Stephen and Deborah Ryan of Hagerstown announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Kathleen Ryan, to Edward Joseph Chernick of Stanfordville, N.Y.

Miss Ryan is a 1999 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School. She is a 2003 graduate of Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. She is enrolled in an honors Master of Business Administration program at Baruch College in New York City.

Mr. Chernick is the son of Jeffrey and Carolyn Chernick of Stanfordville. He is a 2004 graduate of St John's University, Queens, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science in sports management. He is employed by NYSE Technologies as a product specialist.

A July 2010 wedding is planned.
