Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Toothman of Chewsville announce the engagement of their son, Jeffrey Christopher Toothman, to Cathleen Virginia Lapp.

Miss Lapp is the daughter of James Lapp of Le Roy, N.Y., and Jill Knitter of Silver Lake, N.Y. Miss Lapp is a 2003 graduate of Le Roy High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in history in 2007 from Saint Bonaventure University, where she also received a master of science in adolescent education in 2008. She is employed by Waynesboro Area School District

Dr. Toothman is a 1997 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He received a dual Bachelor of Arts in physics and philosophy in 2001 from Bucknell University. He received a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Maryland in 2005, and received a certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center in 2009. He is an associate with Drs. Toothman and Barra, practicing in the Hagerstown and Chambersburg, Pa., offices.

An October 2010 wedding is planned.
